Keyholder Club

In the famous words of DJ Khaled, “I’ve got the keys”. And in this version, you are DJ Khaled because you got dem keyz.

I am delighted that we’ve been able to accommodate more people who have been with us for longer periods of time with extra training time. With that, this page runs you through the ins and outs of opening up and closing down CityGym.

Opening Up & Locking Up

1. Key - The keyhole is a tad finicky. Please do not jam the key in any direction, it just takes a moment to catch right. Your key has been checked, it does work, so please be gentle. The keyhole is located to the right of the shutter. (Image 1 below) Once the shutters are up use the 2410 code.

2. Closing shutter from inside - The button is to the left of the door as you face it from the inside. Use up to bring it up, down to bring it down. We do recommend having the shutter down when you’re inside and out of normal hours. (Image 2 below)

3. Lights inside - Most lights are automatic. There are 2 sets of lights that are not. For energy saving, use one light downstairs and only turn the upstairs lights on when you are up there. We would really like this keyholder club to run long term, so being energy conscious in a time of all-time-highs in bills is important to us and I hope you will take that importance on you as well. (Image 3 below is the two light switches for the main floor, please use just one of the two. Image 4 below is the upstairs light, please use one to two of the four switches.)

4. Cleaning staff - We have cleaners in 4 times per week. They can be in any time between 9pm and 7am. They work a mandatory Monday, Wednesday and Friday, but also one additional day based on their schedules for elsewhere. They’re both lovely, just stick to one place at a time while they’re in and they’ll work around you, they’re aware of the situation for keyholders.

5. For locking up, ensure all lights that can be turned off on the main floor and our second gym floor are off. Lock the shutter full way to the floor. That’s it!

6. Please note, the only hours someone can’t come in is on Tuesday and Thursday mornings between 6am-7:30am.

Potential Extra Charges

We hope that we won’t ever have to use these, but there are potential extra charges. Here they are:

  • €30 if someone leaves equipment out after they leave. (Please put bars, plates, small Jordan plates used for recording, benches etc all back where they were.)

  • €50 if someone leaves lights on after they leave. (One quick scan and double back before you leave can save time and a headache.)

  • €250 if someone brings in a member that isn't approved. (Outside of normal gym hours, only approved keyholders or coaches can be in)**

  • €500 if the gym keys are used for anything but training. (After hours membership is for training only, please do not use this as somewhere to chill at night, it’s not somewhere to bring others or use after a night out.)

  • Lastly, the key will be your responsibility. Initial and additional keys will have to be purchased by the member and if locks need to be changed due to multiple lost keys, that member will be charged. Your initial key fee will be charged in week 1.

  • ** Being qualified as a keyholder also allows one other person to train with you, provided they have a membership, they can also pay the supplemental fee and join you. If you ever want to add someone or sign someone up, please email me directly on info@citygymlk.com

There’s No Such Thing As a Gym Emergency

I often used to use this phrase before as a joke. Any building can have an emergency. But gym emergencies are very rare. I say this with love, but if you do ever decide to try and get in touch with me at 4am about anything… we won’t be friends for very long lol. Again, said with love, but please don’t do this.

Keyhole for shutters. Open the shutters and lock them from here. Be gentle, it’s a tad finicky.

Control the shutters from the inside so you can put them down when you’re in.

Main gym light switches. Turn on one of the two switches when you’re in.

Second gym floor lights. Turn on one to two of the four switches.

Thank you for trying this brand new idea with me. I hope it’ll prove to be as awesome as I imagined it, as it plays out.

We will reassess it again in 3 months time and see if we are all happy with it and if so, we will keep it rocking! So expect an email on the week of May 6th-12th.

Much love CG Crew,

Gar
